Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates and the Middletown Area School District have worked closely on several projects for more than 10 years. It came time to solve the needs of the outdated High School which did not meet their currently educational program needs. The desired solution was to build a new school on the existing campus.
This challenge for the new high school was that the land available on campus was limited. The design of the school used this limitation to create a solution that was compact and organized around a central courtyard. This courtyard proved to be a pivotal design element not only in the organization of the building but in its use as an outdoor educational environment.
The new modern high school will meet the district’s goals of integrating 21st educational programming for their students. Flexible learning environments were created throughout and are equipped with modern technology and furniture solutions that reflect their educational delivery model.
