Residential population in Harford County has been on the rise due to new roadways making for an easy commute into Baltimore. The Sheriff’s facilities did not have the capacity to serve the residents and provide for their public safety and several facilities were exposed to security threats. The new Southern Precinct was built on a reused, brownfield site and serves as regional headquarters for Harford County and houses several large public safety vehicles. The police station is equipped to process offenders prior to transfer to another facility. Officer support spaces include a roll call room, evidence storage, agency library, monitoring center and a public meeting room.
