Augusta County Public Schools engaged Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates (CRA Architects) to study the options of renovating the existing “florida style” Riverheads Elementary School or constructing a new replacement elementary school. The School Board, in reviewing the costs proposed, construction costs, and potential disruption to the educational program, decided to proceed with designing a prototype elementary school.
The 815 student prototype design features a “Main Street” concept with break-out / support areas. Natural daylight is incorporated throughout and efficient and effective circulation / sightlines. Other program space includes 36 classrooms, 4 small group instruction rooms, library, gymnasium, cafeteria, kitchen, and administrative suite.
