The new Day Reporting Center for Berkeley County is an adaptive reuse a former CVS Pharmacy. The project was much needed due to the continued growth of the programs which now require additional space to meet the program which operates six days a week.
The Berkeley Day Report Center is a treatment alternative to incarceration for nonviolent offenders whose substance abuse problems have led to legal involvement. Supervision and treatment services provided by the BDRC will accomplish two goals: 1) To provide much needed substance abuse treatment and drug screening which is not available in the Eastern Regional Jail to appropriate offenders 2) To reduce taxpayer cost associated with incarceration.
The scope of work also includes a 1,000 square feet building addition to ensure the center meets current and future demands. The new facility provides more than double the amount of square footage that the current day-report center and home-confinement programs now offer and will provide additional services for adult and juvenile drug court programs.
Program of spaces include lobby, administrative offices, counseling offices, drug testing rooms, large meeting rooms, and staff break area.
