Meet Our Summer Interns

CRA is lucky to have five talented summer interns this year! Let’s meet them:

Nick Biser is going into his 5th and final year at Marywood University to earn his Bachelor of Architecture.

  1. What is the best part of working at CRA so far?
I’ve really enjoyed my time so far at CRA. My favorite part is how welcoming and inviting everybody is. The atmosphere is a great mix of casual yet professional and organized at the same time. It also feels like I’m actually contributing to projects instead of just shadowing. The freezer full of Penn State Creamery Ice Cream and all the dogs running around the office is also a big plus.
  2. What do you like to do in your free time?
Outside of architecture, you can find me cooking something up in the kitchen or seeing the latest movie in theaters. I also love getting out in nature and watching West Ham United soccer matches with my friends and family.
  3. Do you have any plans for after graduation?
After I graduate next year, I plan on pursuing a full time career in architecture and hope to get licensed, but until then I really want to road trip across the country and travel abroad.

Cameron Lobel will be entering his sophomore year at Pennsylvania State University, and studying Architectural Engineering.

  1. What is the best part of working at CRA so far?
I enjoy traveling to the job sites and watching as they progress throughout the summer.
  2. What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy woodworking, playing my saxophone, and playing video games in my spare time.
  3. Do you have any plans for after graduation?
I’m not exactly sure as to what I want after graduation, which is partially why I am taking this internship.

Jack Phipps attends Penn State University and will be going into his 3rd year studying Architectural Engineering.

  1. What is the best part of working at CRA so far?
The best part of working at CRA so far has been the overall atmosphere of the office. Everyone here is very friendly and want to help you learn. I also enjoy how everyone works together as a team.
  2. What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy golfing, hunting, and watching sports.
  3. Do you have any plans for after graduation?
I don’t have any official plans after graduation yet. I’ve been using my summers to intern and figure out what side of the Architecture/Engineering industry I want to end up on.

Nate Phipps is going into his 3rd year at Penn State University, where he is studying Architectural Engineering.

  1. What is the best part of working at CRA so far?
The best part of CRA so far is either being able to get involved in different projects and see my work being used or honestly simple things in the office like luncheons or other people bringing in their dogs. It creates a super relaxing environment.
  2. What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time I enjoy going to the gym, golfing, and hanging out with my friends.
  3. Do you have any plans for after graduation?
After graduation I plan on getting a job in the architecture/contracting industry. I’ve had thoughts of potentially starting my own business but we’ll see where life takes me.

Parker Vanderven currently attends Syracuse University School of Architecture, and will be going into his 5th and final year this fall.

  1. What is the best part of working at CRA so far?
The best part about working at CRA for me is the collaboration with different teams across projects where everyone is super helpful and patient so I can learn a lot about design, technical elements, and ways of using programs.
  2. What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy playing board and video games with my friends and family as well as always keeping busy with projects at my family’s house or my church. I’ve also this summer been experimenting with 3D printers on a small scale by printing miniatures and objects I designed.
  3. Do you have any plans for after graduation?
My immediate plan after graduation is to hopefully continue working in the same area close to home and continue logging my accreditation hours for NCARB certification.

We are excited to have these interns with us for a few months, while they learn about the overall concept of the company, our services, clients, and all other aspects of the architectural design world.
