Cabela’s Retail, Inc

Hamburg, PA

As “The World’s Foremost Outfitter” Cabela’s retail stores are truly an outdoor enthusiast’s destination. Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates partnered with Cabela’s Retail Inc. to design their 247,000 SF flagship store in Hamburg, PA. Construction was completed in 2003 and the store opened its doors to seven million visitors in its first year. Cabela’s Hamburg was their ninth retail store and the first East of Michigan in this growing chain of destination retail centers. Most Cabela’s retail stores built have become the largest tourist attraction in their respective states based on the volume of annual visitors. Visitors spend an average of three hours in the store.

Since designing Cabela’s Hamburg, PA store, Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates has built a partnership with Cabela’s Retail Inc. that has proved invaluable to their retail brand. Together they have designed stores in Boise, ID (132,000 SF); Buda, TX (185,000 SF); Fort Worth, TX (230,000 SF); Glendale, AZ (160,000 SF); Hamburg, PA (250,000 SF); La Vista, NE (128,000 SF); Lehi, UT (150,000 SF); Richfield, WI (165,000 SF); Rogers, MN (185,000 SF); Wheeling, WV (175,000 SF); East Hartford, CT; Gonzales, LA; Hammond, IN; Hazelwood, MO; Hoffman Estates, IL; Lacey, WA;   Post Falls, ID; Reno, NV; Scarborough, ME; Rapid City , SD; Billings, MT; Christiana, DE; Greenville, SC.

The value that Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates brings to every project helps Cabela’s to maintain their high level of quality and customer satisfaction in an extremely competitive industry. The genuine materials used in Cabela’s retail stores—from real stone and logs to museum-quality animal mounts—are a reflection of the quality of products that Cabela’s sells.

Each store includes hunting, fishing, camping, archery, auto/atv, marine and footwear departments, a specialized fly fishing shop, a full-service restaurant featuring a wild game menu, a gift shop, an art gallery, an old country store, a furniture department, a laser shooting gallery, a full conference center and a specialized, first class gun library featuring antique and valuable guns for sale. Customers are immediately wowed upon entering the store by a forty-foot mountain displaying nearly one hundred full-body animal mounts in realistic scenes and an African diorama featuring Africa’s five most dangerous animals. In addition, hundreds of the world’s largest trophy mounts are located around the store. Some stores include a museum of up to 12,000 SF featuring white tail deer, mule deer, elk and other indigenous species and a live aquarium showcasing freshwater fish species native to the store’s location.
