Northern Precinct Headquarters & Sheriff’s Office

Jarrettsville, MD

This 2,000 SF addition and 10,000 SF renovation project involved the creative use of an existing building. The structure, built as speculative grocery retail space, was vacant for several years before it was purchased for use as a precinct office for the Harford County Sheriff’s Office. In addition, it was discovered that the building was not built as the drawings showed presenting many unforeseen conditions. The original building, less than ten years old at the time of purchase, was a one-story combination steel frame and load-bearing masonry building.  The 2,000 SF addition, which includes a vehicle sally port, matches the original construction. The 10,000 SF renovation includes a processing area with four processing rooms and a sculpture garden at the building’s entrance dedicated to fallen officers.
