Stevensville Middle School

Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates provided the design solution for an extensive renovation of Stevensville Middle School for Queen Anne’s County Public Schools. The current facility was constructed in 1952 and has several additions added onto the structure in 1961, 1965, 1985 and 1992. The facility is home to 525 students in grades 6-8.

The design addressed the outdated building systems, code issues and program, safety and security needs of the facility. The team coordinated two seamless phases that allow minimal disruption to students and staff during school hours. Modular classroom units were installed on site to house sciences, the library and other key learning spaces, while a temporary kitchen was created in the auxiliary gym using the existing kitchen equipment to save the school system money. To expedite the schedule, the geothermal well field was bid separately and installed prior to the general contractor mobilizing the site.

Currently, Stevensville Middle School is LEED Silver Registered with the U.S. Green Building Council.
