Salve Regina University – Rodgers Recreation Center
Following an in-depth programming and financial feasibility study, Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates has been hired for the renovation and rejuvenation of the Rodgers Recreation Center at Salve Regina University.
Since its construction in 1999, the University’s needs for the recreation center have shifted from its original intention. Our firm performed a comprehensive survey of the building’s existing program and mechanical systems in order to make educated design decisions in the repurposing of the space.
Programmatic changes include the renovation of existing office and meeting space into a large dance studio for the growing performing arts program. Additional weight training, aerobics, and cardio/fitness spaces were developed through the renovation of existing board rooms while also incorporating lounge seating throughout the entire building.
With the intention of increasing the identity of the facilities’ primary use, transparent glazing was added to allow views both in and out of the existing gymnasium space.
