Bay-Brook Elementary/Middle School

Baltimore, MD

The new Bay-Brook Elementary / Middle School is designed to replace the two existing elementary and middle school facilities, as well as the modular classroom unit, that currently comprise the P-K through 8th grade facility. The proposed facility is currently designed at approximately 121,000 SF, which includes a three-story classroom wing, as well as single-story support and community areas. The new facility is designed to promote flexible and interactive learning environments, integrate security measures and increased visibility, enhance accessibility and life-safety, incorporate sustainable materials and practices, and provide educational opportunities during both school and non-school hours. Each floor of the three story building houses three classroom wings.

All three classroom wings, P-K through 2nd grade, 3rd through 5th grade and 6th through 8th grade, contain dedicated Collaborative Learning Areas which are centralized to make the spaces open and easily accessible. Larger core-curriculum spaces consisting of the Cafeteria/Dining, Media Center, Administration, Gymnasium, and Community Space are located first floor.
