Juniata County Courthouse

Mifflintown, PA

Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates performed an initial restoration of the historic Juniata County Courthouse in Mifflintown, PA in 1991. The 2010 restoration included a thorough codes analysis in which the architect obtained necessary variances and compensatory features. In addition, the original bell tower, deemed structurally unsound, was rebuilt to match the original design. The roof and windows were replaced, using historically accurate replacement windows. Original wood doors were salvaged, repaired and rehung. All exterior trim was stripped and repainted. Interior renovation included a full sprinkler system and fire alarm system to provide increased safety for the county’s employees and the public.
