West Virginia Regional Jail Authority
This project included the prototypical development of the West Virginia Regional Jail System, replacing all existing county jails with new 200-, 300- and 400-cell regional jail facilities. The jails were designed with a full range of security types to accommodate multiple different inmate classifications as required by the State of West Virginia.
Conventional reinforced concrete masonry units with security hollow metal doors and frames and security hardware are used throughout each building. A complete security management system allows for monitoring of all security and housing unit security functions from a central control point.
Each building is designed for a two-phase expansion plan will increase the total capacity of the facilities by over 100% through double-occupancy of cells and the construction of additional housing units. All infrastructure and support facilities including administration, food service, laundry, intake, security administration, medical support, education, recreation and program support are designed to accommodate this expansion.
