New Dover Area High School Construction Bids Under Budget

Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates – Architects, is pleased to announce the construction bids for the New Dover Area High School were awarded June 19th at the School District’s Board Meeting. The bid results were $557,000 under the projected project budget of $56,420,000. This allowed the District to select some of the recommended alternates for the project such as synthetic turf for a multipurpose field and still remain under budget. The average square foot cost for the project is $169 excluding site work.

The new 291,000 SF school has program space for 1,400 students and will provide innovative learning environments for the opportunities of the future. The school design includes a 1,000 seat auditorium with orchestra pit, 1500 seat gymnasium with an elevated running track and a 6 lane natatorium.

The new school will be constructed on the site of the existing intermediate school and after construction is complete the intermediate school will be demolished.  As a separate project, currently in the planning phase, the existing high school will be renovated to serve as the intermediate school. Construction on the new high school will begin this summer and is scheduled to be complete for the 2020-2021 school year.

Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates has been working with the District on the project since April of 2017.
